UFC Swap

The past few UFC had been a dissapointment to watch on pay-per-view.

UFC 72 brought back that excitement that had been missing from the last few fights except for the Couture vs Tim fight. The rounds Clay Guida Vs. Tyson Griffin it was full of quick action. Both fighters presented lots of stamina and energy with neither one letting down.

Personally I felt Guida had pull throught the last two rounds but after further review of the leg lock, I don't feel he had Griffin in that bad of a position. He should have roll on to his side and gain a bit of leverage with his legs on the Tyson Griffin waist to pull the left further and exert more pain. They always say never to leave it to the judges, Tyson Griffin Wins by Split Decision at 5:00 in the 3rd round.

Jason MacDonald was able to over power Rory Singer is the second round, decisively imposing his will on his opponent. He was able, with a visually worned down Rory Singer to loosen up his guard and gain mount to proceed to Win by a Technical Knock Out at 3:18 in the 2nd round.

In the match of Scott Smith Vs. Ed Herman, Ed has improve greatly on his skills. I would say this fight has been the best fight in a long time. Ed was able to hammer down some hard elbows into Scott with way completely splitting open a Huge cut on Scotts nose, Some hard elbows were also receive in the eye socket area with a final tap out by rear naked choke at 2:25 in the 2nd round.

There is something to say about Scott Smith in the way he was able to stay in that fight for that long. Never did I see a facial expression of him to quit. He showed great will, to keep fighting until the end even thought he was visually hurt, blood was covering his face and eyes, but kept up the fight, Ed Herman is obviously in great. Let's see if he can keep it up and if his sights are on the Welterweight Title match. If he can keep his work ethics he shows lots of promise.

The Rich Franklin Vs. Yushin Okami was a bit of a let down to me. Both fighter were very cautious during the match. This is as a result of their level of skill. Both of them were able to counter eachothers take downs until the third round.

Okami style is to wear his opponents down the first and second round and get a third round ground and pound finish. In this match Franklin out macht Okami on the stand up fight, landing more rounds. On the thirds round Okami was able to get the beginning os his plan underground and took Franklin down, then held a Kimora which should have won him the fight but Franklin was able to get out and finish on top giving him the win. I wish I could have seen more of a spark from both of these fighters and put more on the line instead of walking on carefull feet.

UFC 72 had a Swap presenting great matches for the lower stars than the famous Rich Franklin, it shows that there are a lot of young up commers that have a future and need to be more recognize and exposed. It also shows the need for more avenues and more fights than the current monthly schedule, speed up the cycle and the process. We want more!!!!
